Super Easy Mongolian Beef

My husband's #1 request when we order Chinese takeout is Mongolian Beef. This recipe is simple to make and delicious! It has definitely made it in to our rotation of favorite meals.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 1/2 lbs flank steak, sliced thin
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 3 Tbls vegetable or olive oil
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp minced ginger
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • pinch of red pepper flakes (more if you like it hot!)
  • green onions sliced for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. In a large ziplock bag add the sliced flank steak and cornstarch. Toss the beef to coat evenly.
  2. Heat a large skillet to high heat and add the vegetable oil.
  3. Brown steak in small batches until cooked, remove and set aside on a plate.
  4. In a small mixing bowl combine soy sauce, brown sugar, water, ginger, and garlic.
  5. Add the sauce to the pan and bring to a boil.
  6. Add the steak to the sauce and allow the sauce to thicken for a couple of minutes.
  7. Toss with the chopped green onions and sprinkle with red pepper flakes.
  8. Serve over sticky white rice.
